Our story
Our roots
1947

In 1947, Giovanni Berton was granted a plot of land in Ca’ Pasquali. In the following years, with the arrival of the first holidaymakers heading to the seaside, the first forms of hospitality began to develop.
This area was made up of sandy dunes and land that was difficult to cultivate. It was the local families who, through patient and hard work, transformed the landscape: the dunes were levelled by hand and maritime pines were planted, which still characterise the pine forest and the spirit of the village today.
20th Century
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the area of Cavallino Treporti was marked by great poverty. To support the families most in need, the State granted the use of large portions of public land: sandy plots along the beach, with dunes up to 30 metres high.
1959

In 1959, with the help of his brothers Massimo and Giorgio and with his father’s consent, Canciano had a building constructed, which still exists today. It housed a grocery shop, a bar, a trattoria and a guesthouse with ten rooms served by two bathrooms.
This marked the beginning of the trattoria and guesthouse “Da Berton”, run by the brothers Canciano, Massimo and Giorgio Berton together with their families.
1970
In the 1970s the first bungalows were built, immersed in greenery: from then on, the campsite as we know it today began to take shape. The children of the three families have continued the work started by their parents over the years, expanding and uniting the village into a single entity, without ever losing its original values.
